16th Annual Sweetheart Clinic Set for Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Athletics will host its 16th annual Sweetheart Clinic this Sunday beginning at 9:45 a.m. at the Marshall Recreation Center.

The clinic’s 165 Participants will check-in from 9:45 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. Shortly thereafter, they will then begin to rotate amongst nine different sport stations featuring student-athletes and coaches from all nine of the Thundering Herd’s female sports. Each girl will have the opportunity to learn developmental skills at each station.

Registration is closed and no walk-ups will be allowed.

The program, which began 1998, is conducted in recognition of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. In its 15 year history, more than 1,850 girls have the chance to participate.

Participants will complete their final rotation at 1:15 p.m. then enjoy a free pizza party. A pep rally conducted by the Herd cheerleaders will follow as participants prepare to take in the women’s basketball game against 2 p.m. in the Cam Henderson Center.

Participants will be admitted to the women’s basketball game for free. Sweetheart Clinic family members and observers may purchase a ticket to the game at the clinic for $3.

The 2013 clinic is presented by Marshall Athletics, Marshall Recreation Center, Marshall Maniacs, Pepsi, Little Caesars Pizza, Women, Infants and Children (WIC), Sweet Confections Bakery and Catering, Victor’s Cleaners and Launders, and MedExpress.
