Jules, Williamson Co-Student-Athletes of the Week

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Seniors Vanessa Jules and Andi Williamson share the honor of Marshall's Student-Athlete of the Week after impressive performances over the weekend.

Jules, from Silver Springs, Md., won the Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet award after breaking three school records and one Conference USA meet record at the C-USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Jules competed in all four days of the meet and won conference titles in the heptathlon (school and meet record 5,807 points) and the high jump. She also placed sixth in the 100 meter hurdles with a record-breaking time of 13.67. She also broke a school record in the 200 meters during the heptathlon with a time of 24.37.

Williamson, from Harts, W.Va., won the C-USA Tournament MVP for softball and helped the team to its first C-USA title and first NCAA Tournament appearance. At the C-USA Championships, she did not allow an earned run and struck out 12 in 21 innings of work. Williamson (32-16) recorded three wins on the weekend and one shutout, against No. 1 seed and regular season champion UAB.
