At Least 200 Former Thundering Herd Alumni Return for Homecoming

Oct. 11, 2017

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall Athletics will celebrate Homecoming this weekend when Old Dominion visits Joan C. Edwards Stadium for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff Saturday afternoon.

However, the weekend's events begin Friday as Marshall will celebrate the life of former football coach Sonny Randle. His former student-athletes, coaches and staff will take part in a Friday evening social, a pregame tailgate and on-field recognition just prior to Saturday's game.

Marshall Volleyball will recognize its 2007 Conference USA regular season championship team before Friday's 6 p.m. Dig Pink match versus Rice and during the first quarter of Saturday's football contest. The program also hosts Louisiana Tech Sunday at 1 p.m.

Men's and Women's Soccer will host alumni events as well this weekend. The women face FIU Friday at 7 p.m. and Florida Atlantic Sunday at 1 p.m., while the men play Kentucky at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

"We're expecting a large turnout this weekend as we bring back our former student-athletes, coaches and staff," said Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick. "This is one of the most fulfilling weekends of the year for our people as this will be the first time, in a long time, that some of them have been able to reconnect since their days representing our programs. We're certainly glad to have them here this weekend."

The M Club Pavilion will host Thundering Herd alumni before Saturday's football game, as well.
