Tom Belmaggio enters his sixth year as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Herd and is charged with the health and well-being of all Marshall Student-Athletes.

Belmaggio came to Marshall University after spending a year at Eastern Kentucky University as the Head Men's Basketball Athletic Trainer. He also spent five years at University of Rhode Island as the Associate Athletic Trainer and Lipscomb University as a graduate assistant athletic trainer.

The Morgantown, W.V. native earned his Bachelor of Science from West Virginia University in 1998 where he worked closely with the football, wrestling, soccer, and baseball teams. While at West Virginia, Belmaggio served as the student representative of the state of West Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association. In 2001, Belmaggio earned his Master of Science from Middle Tennessee State University. While attending MTSU he was employed at Baptist Sports Medicine in Nashville, TN.

His career highlights include: Internship for the 1997 Dallas Cowboys Football Club, game day EMS crew for the Tennessee Titans 2000 season, Athletic Trainer for the 2005 Superbowl Champions New England Patriots during the pre-season in 2005, 2000 NAIA Elite 8 at Lipscomb University, 2 NIT appearances at the University of Rhode Island, and a NCAA appearance in OVC Champion at Eastern Kentucky University.

Belmaggio is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He currently resides in Huntington, WV and has a daughter, Taylor.
