Steve Cotton has been Marshall's radio play-by-play announcer since 1996 and a member of the Thundering Herd ISP Sports Network broadcasts since 1993. The native of Kalkaska, Mich., is a 1987 graduate of the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications and received a master's degree in journalism from Marshall in 1995.

Before coming to Marshall, Cotton spent four years broadcasting games at Carson-Newman College (Tenn.) and three seasons broadcasting baseball and/or women's basketball at the University of Florida.

Cotton has twice been voted the West Virginia Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (1998, 2001) and has received numerous accolades, including "Best Play-by-Play," from the Mid-American Conference News Media Association.
