Aaron Goebbel is in his fourth year as the Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs after serving three years as the Assistant Athletic Director for Ticketing. Prior to Goebbel's Assistant Athletic Director appointment, he spent four years in Marshall's Operations and Facilities Department. Goebbel was named the athletic department's first-ever Director of Events in June of 2006. In that position, he was in charge of all game operations for MU's Olympic sports while assisting in the operations for football and basketball.
At Marshall, Goebbel is responsible for the oversight of all day-to-day operations of the Marshall University Athletic Department's external areas for the Herd's 16-sport athletic program. He serves as a major gifts fundraiaser for the Big Green Scholarship foundation as well as assisting with numerous fundraising activities and events. He also serves as a liaison between the athletic department and IMG College. Goebbel was appointed as the advisor of the Marshall Maniacs, the athletic student organization for Marshall University, the largest student organization on campus.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Goebbel began his tenure at MU in 2004 as a graduate assistant following his stint as an intern in the Bowling Green State University athletics department. He earned his bachelor's in education from BGSU in 2004 before earning a master's in health and physical education from MU in 2006.
Goebbel resides in Huntington.
