David Pifer joined the Thundering Herd Sports Information staff in August 2011 after spending four years as an undergraduate student at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
Currently serving as a Graduate Assistant in the Marshall University Sports Information department, Pifer is the head contact for men's soccer, men's and women's cross country, women's track, and women's tennis. The Chattanooga, Tenn., native also spent time as the men's golf and women's soccer contacts in 2011-12, and assists the Sports Information staff with men's and women's basketball and football duties on the side.
Pifer served as an Assistant Sports Information Director while a student-athlete at Covenant College, writing for the school's athletics website and serving as the school newspaper's head sports editor. He was also a four-year starter with the men's soccer team, earning NCCAA All-American Honorable Mention and All-Region honors during his senior year. He has also spent time at the semi-professional level as both a player and administrator, playing for the Chattanooga Football Club of the NPSL (National Premier Soccer League) and serving as a Marketing Intern with them from 2009-2011.
Pifer graduated from Covenant in May 2011 with a B.A. in business and a minor in sports management. He is currently studying to obtain his masters in sports administration from Marshall's ESS department.
