Ryan Smith was named assistant athletic trainer for Softball and Men’s and Women’s Cross Country in January of 2017.
Prior to joining Marshall Sports Medicine team Smith spent two years at the University of West Georgia (2014-2016) as a graduate assistant working with the football and baseball teams. He received his Master’s in Education with an emphasis in Instructional Technology in December of 2016. He also received a media specialist certificate for the University of West Georgia.
Smith received his Bachelors of Education in Athletic Training degree from the University of West Alabama in June of 2014. While at West Alabama he worked with football, men’s basketball, women’s soccer, baseball, and softball. Ryan was also president of the Sports Medicine Club at UWA.
Smith was certified as an athletic trainer by the Board of Certification in 2015. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and Georgia Athletic Trainers Association. He is currently a licensed Athletic Trainer in Georgia and is registered Athletic Trainer in West Virginia.
Ryan is originally from Uriah, Alabama.
