The athletic program at Marshall University places its highest priority on enhancing the educational growth of our young men and women. The primary purpose of the Department of Athletics is to provide a successful, quality, competitive intercollegiate athletic experience for Marshall University students which will enrich their lives, provide the necessary training ground for life growth, enhance the image of the institution and build upon the academic mission of the University.

To that end, the Buck Harless Student-Athlete Program (BHSAP) was created to help all Marshall student-athletes balance their academic and athletic demands. The BHSAP assists student-athletes through daily services, individualized guidance, and current curriculum information in achieving their goals. The BHSAP also focuses on promoting equal opportunities for all student-athletes regardless of gender, race, national origin, ethnicity, grant-in-aid status or sport.

Specific services provided by the BHSAP include:
• Academic Advising
