    MCGILL: Run Ends for Herd Hoops, But Journey Was Sweet


    Late Sunday night, here inside San Diego State’s Viejas Arena, the Marshall men’s basketball team lost to West Virginia, 94-71, in front of an NCAA tournament crowd of 11,628. The loss ended the Thundering Herd’s whirlwind and unprecedented run, which started with a Conference USA championship and automatic NCAA berth and led to the program’s first NCAA win.

    MCGILL: Sweet 16 Awaits Winner of Marshall-WVU Clash


    The Thundering Herd and Mountaineers will meet in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday in front of a nationally televised audience.

    McGill: Herd Set for First NCAA Clash in 31 Years


    The first two full days of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament – Thursday and Friday – will feature 32 games involving 64 teams. The matchup here inside San Diego State University’s Viejas Arena between East Region No. 13 seed Marshall (24-10) and fourth seed Wichita State (25-7) will be the only one of those games featuring teams within the top 20 nationally in scoring offense.
