Big Green Donor of the Week: Pennington Family
Jan. 16, 2012
Like so many others, this week's Big Green Donor of the Week is more than one person. It's a whole family, and one you're sure to know.
Chad and Robin Pennington met at Marshall where Robin was an athletic trainer and Chad played a little football.Chad's storied college career produced three consecutive MAC championships, an undefeated national championship (1999) for the Herd, and culminated by being drafted in the first round by the New York Jets.
While Chad's career in the NFL flourished, he and Robin established the 1st and 10 Foundation to benefit communities in West Virginia and Tennesse. Over the past eight years, 1st and 10 has dedicated over $1 million to schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, and many other organizations that make their communities better. So many children and young mothers, especially, have benefited from these two dedicated and giving alums.
The Pennington boys, Cole (8), Luke (5) and Gage (2) are not only big MU fans as well, but football players, too. Being coached by dad in Flag Football in their hometown in Florida, their's bound to be a competitor in this group. Coach Pennington's team's record was not available at press time.
Along with Marshall grad Mike D'Antoni, Chad is a spokesman for the Marshall Athletics capital project, the Vision Campaign. His commitment to the success of the campaign is clearly seen in his statement, "Failure is not an option in the campaign."
Sounds like a champioship QB.
Both Robin and Chad are graduates of Marshall University, Robin received her undergrad in Athletic Training and masters in Exercise Science, and Chad received his degree in broadcast journalism .
