Giving is something that comes natural to some people. Their desire to help others at their own expense allows them to be blessed in seeing how they make a difference in people's lives. This week's Donors of the Week are an example for all of us when it comes to giving.
Bart and Doris Andrews are fixtures at nearly all Herd athletic events. When they're not at the Henderson Center, Joan C. Edwards Stadium, or Dot Hicks Field cheering on the Herd, you just might see them rolling down the highway to an MU away game. You can't miss them in their 38 foot RV covered in hand painted buffalos. Just don't ask Bart about his gas mileage!
Bart and Doris were both Marshall students in the late 50's, with Bart earning his degree in Business Management and Doris in Secreterial Science. They married in 1960 and raised their four children while Bart partnered up to run a very successful Huntington business, Danco. Bart retired in 1992 and they have been busy on the RV circuit ever since.
Marshall University has greatly benefitted from the Andrews' generousity. They are members of the President's Circle in recognition of their gifts to the Marshall University Foundaation, as well as their membership in the Big Green at Coaches Circle level. They also have established an endowed scholarship in the Big Green, and support several sports directly through their respective booster clubs.
We thank Bart and Doris for their unwavering support of the Big Green and our student-athletes.
Favorite Marshall Athletes: LaVerne Evans, George Washington, and Chad Pennington
Favorite Marshall Moments: 1992 National Championship in Football, and the Miracle in Mobile in 2001.
Why Do You Give to the Big Green? "We love Marshall, and we can donate so that Marshall can be the best we can be."
