This week's Big Green Donor of the Week is Steve Zemba. Steve is a 1975 graduate of Marshall University with a Bachelor's of Business Administration in Finance. Steve's wife, Sue, is also a graduate of Marshall with an Accounting degree. Having met at Marshall, Steve and Sue have been happily married for 37 years. After graduation, they moved back to Steve's hometown of Pittsburgh, PA, where he served as the Vice President of Finance at the Monroe Corporation for 32 years.
Steve and Sue are the proud parents of two daughters, Ashley and Alison. Ashley, Steve's youngest daughter is currently a Graduate Assistant working with the Marshall women's basketball team. Alison, a University of Kentucky graduate, and her husband Casey have blessed Steve and Sue with their first granddaughter, Angela.
During Steve's time at Marshall, he was a member of the basketball team from 1972-1975 and teammates with the New York Knick's basketball coach, Mike D'Antoni.
Favorite Marshall Athlete: My favorite Marshall Athlete is Mike D'Antoni. Mike was such a great role model for us younger guys to look up to. He was always able to maintain a great balance between academics and athletics. Mike was one of those guys that we knew good things would happen to.
Favorite Marshall Moment: The first time I saw my wife in freshman English-- I'll never forget that feeling!
Why I give to the Big Green: My wife and I have been fortunate in our careers, and we want student athletes to have the same opportunities that I once had.
