HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Following a break for Memorial Day, the 2010 Big Green Coaches Tour will be back next week, visiting with Thundering Herd fans in Ashland, Ky., Parkersburg and Lincoln County.
The action starts on Tuesday, June 1 with a two-part event in Ashland. A golf scramble is set for 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bellefonte Country Club. Head football coach Doc Holliday, men's basketball coach Tom Herrion and women's basketball coach Royce Chadwick will join Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick at the event. The cost is $60 and includes lunch and golf.
Following the scramble, a cookout will take place at the Superior Chrysler Dodge Jeep dealership in downtown Ashland. Marshall coaches and staff will greet fans at the free cookout.
On Thursday, the tour will make a stop in Parkersburg, W.Va. for the annual "Rally In The Alley" behind the North End Tavern. The stop will feature a barbecue feast and fun-filled entertainment planned by the Big Green leaders in the Wood County area. The cost for the Parkersburg event is $30.
The tour will wrap up the week on Saturday, June 5 at the second annual Big Green Golf Scramble. The event, which has been set up by the Lincoln County Friends of Marshall, will be held at the Esquire Country Club in Martha. A shotgun start will begin the scramble at 8 a.m. and the cost is $70 per person.
At each event all attending will receive free refrigerator magnet schedules for the 2010 Marshall University football season and a chance to win season football and basketball tickets, a signed football by Coach Holliday and a signed basketball by Coach Herrion. The major auction item will be a football signed by Byron Leftwich, Chad Pennington, Randy Moss and John Wade.
