Big Green Donor of the Week - Nikita and Trish Nash

Sept. 25, 2012

The Huntington couple, longtime Thundering Herd fans and supporters, have recently stepped up large through the Big Green with a significant commitment to the Vision Campaign to enhance facilities for Marshall athletics.

Both are Marshall alumni and are retired. Nikita, born and reared in Huntington, ran SMC Electrical Products in Huntington. He graduated in 1969. Trish, a native of Gap Mills in Monroe County, worked in Cabell County, including a stint with the Regional Grocers Association. She graduated at MU in 1971.

They have been Big Green members for "a long, long time, 20-20 years. It's important to us," Nikita said.

Favorite Marshall athlete:
Nikita - "Golly, there are so many ... Russell Lee, because he had the ability to take over a basketball game."
Trish - "Chad Pennington is my No. 1."

Favorite Marshall athletics moment:
Nikita - "The football win at Louisville, the first one (1987), Tony Petersen at quarterback, winning touchdown pass to Keith Baxter."
Trish - "The (1999) MAC championship game, when Chad threw a touchdown pass to tight end Eric Pinkerton to beat Western Michigan and keep us unbeaten."

Why do you give to Big Green:
"The school and program needs help," Nikita said. "What's being done needs to be done; it's got to come from somewhere. And it makes the two of us feel good. We like to help, to see kids come to school, grow, build their lives, move on and be successful. Marshall is special to us."
