This week's Big Green Donor of the Week is Kenny Crawford
There may not be another fan who claims our coaches and players as family more than Kenny Crawford.
Nov. 13, 2012
You've seen him at the Henderson Center. You've seen him at Joan C. Edwards Stadium and Dot Hicks Field. He's been in the stands at Fairfield Stadium and the Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse. He's like so many of you who have been going to games and cheering on the Herd for a long time. But there may not be another fan who claims our coaches and players as family more than Kenny Crawford.
Known by everyone as simply, "Kenny," Crawford has been a mainstay at all Marshall sporting events for more than 30 years. He has lived in Huntington all of his life and became a real Marshall fan after the passing of his father. The Marshall community took him in as a member of the Herd family and Kenny has been a part of every game he can get to. He even rode his bike to practices and games until it was stolen one day, and Coach Jim Donnan got him a new one so Kenny could be on the sidelines.
Kenny is an employee of ResCare in Huntington, and between his time with Green Acres Regional Center and ResCare, he has been working over 35 years. When you see him at the next game with his headphones on, he'll probably be listening to Steve Cotton's play-by-play. Or it may be Motown.
Last March, Kenny and I drove to the C-USA Basketball Tournament in Memphis together and I found out that, not only did he know the name of every Motown song on XM Radio, he knew every word to those songs.
Be sure to thank Kenny the next time you see him for recently joining the Big Green to support our student-athletes. To him, it was a way to give back to the Herd who has given so much to him.
