Donor of the Week: Cam Brown|
Nov. 23, 2010
If you've been at a Marshall basketball game, no doubt you've seen this week's Big Green Donor of the Week, the Brown Family. Cam Brown and his wife, Mary, have three sons, William, Harrison and Dewey, who have all grown up around Marshall Athletics. In the past few years we've even seen both Harrison and Dewey working as Ball Boys in the Cam Henderson Center.
Cam and Mary both attended Marshall where Cam played for the Herd's tennis program from 1973-1975. He would later meet Mary Calhoun, and, as Cam tells it, he out kicked his punt coverage! The Browns now live in Huntington where Cam is a Senior VP for Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Mary is an accomplished writer and mom. They both are members of the Tip Off Club Committee for the Men's Basketball team and have supported Herd athletics for many years.
The Big Green would like to thank Cam and his family for their love for the Herd and the support they give to our student-athletes.
College: Marshall '78 undergraduate in finance and MBA in 1980; became a full-time member of the faculty teaching Finance and Investments.
Who is your favorite all-time Marshall athlete? The D'Antoni brothers, Danny and Mike.
What is your favorite Marshall moment: "When the real Marco got loose on the Astroturf in 1971 and delayed a second-half kickoff until he was returned to his cage. It was awesome!"
Why do you give to the Big Green? "I give to help the coaches and players be successful and win games. Also, there are some real tangible benefits to giving at various levels and I can I can take my donation off my taxes. But I guess it really just comes down to the innate sense that giving just feels good."
