BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Sophomore Matt Schiffbauer finished sixth overall in the men’s race at the Mel Brodt Invitational on Saturday as he led the Marshall men’s cross country team to a fifth place overall finish.

Schiffbauer finished the 8K course in 24:56. He was a minute and three seconds behind the top finisher, Julius Kiptoo, who ran unattached. Three University of Dayton runners and Elisha Kipchumba of Toledo finished ahead of Schiffbauer.

Freshman David Caldwell was the second Marshall runner to cross the line. He finished 25th in a time of 25:48.

The University of Dayton won the meet and Ohio Northern finished second.

The women team finished in ninth place led by sophomore Kylie Lemons. Lemons was 35th overall and finished the 5K race in 19:26. Senior Allison Cox was just six seconds behind Lemons and finished in 40th place.


 

 

The Dayton women’s team, like the men, won the meet.
