Assistant coach Caleb Bowen on the meet:
“Today was a good day! The men started things out and we finally got to see freshmen Nick and Daniel run close to their potential. They went out in the top group and competed the entire race. Seniors Jordan and Tyler also had huge breakthroughs as well, but I think they have a lot more in the tank. Because of that, I think they're going to have really good races at conferences in two weeks. Overall, the men did well and they fought hard with Richmond.”
“The women did awesome today! They got out really well and showed off their strength. Freshman Adriana and junior Andrea led the race from the gun and fought hard the whole race. I've never been more proud than the moment I saw Adriana hold off a 2:09 800 meter runner to win the meet. It was awesome! Plus Taylor Craigo, Alex Phares, Amber Govey, Barkley Castro and Alexis McEntire had awesome races and ran personal records.”
“This is actually the first time the women's team has won a meet in a very long time. Also, their 5k average was 18:55 which is the fastest average since the 2012 CUSA Championship Meet. I'm so excited to watch both of these teams make some history for these last two championship meets.”
