Herd Takes to Trails for Commodore Classic|
Sept. 14, 2012
NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Thundering Herd cross country team will travel to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend for the Commodore Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt University at Percy Warner Park on Saturday.
Boasting one of the largest fields in its history, the Commodore Classic has pulled-in 24 men’s teams and 25 women’s teams for the top tiers of this year’s meet, where the Marshall squads are set to run in the Men’s Gold 8K race and the Women’s Gold 6K race. Both races will provide a stern challenge for the Herd, as no less than seven SEC schools will be participating in both events.
The meet will be the Herd’s second of the season after running in the Tommy Evans Invitational at Akron last week. Senior David Caldwell finished first amongst the Marshall men with a fourth place time, while sophomore Celia Leonard paced the women’s team by crossing the finish line in 11th.
Action will begin at 9 a.m. for the Men’s Gold 8K race and resume with the Women’s Gold 6K race at 9:45 a.m. There is no charge for admission to the event, and meet information and entry lists for the Classic can be viewed by clicking the links below.
