Marshall Cross Country Prepares for Meet at Notre Dame

Sept. 28, 2016

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.—Marshall’s cross country team travels Thursday to the University of Notre Dame for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. The Herd will run on Friday afternoon in their third meet of the 2016 season.

Fans can follow the team on their trip to Notre Dame on Twitter (@HerdTFXC) and on the Marshall Athletics Snapchat (@HerdZone) for live pictures, videos, and results.

The meet is divided up into blue and gold races, with both the men and women competing in the gold races. The women’s gold race is set for 4:15 ET, while the men’s gold race is set for 5 ET.

With many teams nationwide competing, there is great competition for both races. Clemson, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina are three of the over 25 teams competing in the gold races alongside Marshall.

Assistant Coach Caleb Bowen on the meet

“This is one of the meets we’ve been looking forward to all season. It’s a bigger meet, and there are a lot of good teams. We’re in the gold race, with a lot of mid-majors like us that have very good runners. This will give us great competition.”

Bowen on what to expect

“It’ll be a fast course. I expect to see some good PR’s. The weather is looking really good, in fact you can’t get much better running weather than what we’re expecting. I’m really pumped for it.”
