LOUISVILLE, Ky.- This Saturday the Marshall University cross country team will run in the Greater Louisville Classic hosted by the University of Louisville at Tom Sawyer State Park.

The men’s race is set to start at 9:30 a.m. while the women’s meet is set to begin some two hours later at 11:30. The Thundering Herd participated in this very race last season, coming away as champions in the men’s blue division and finishing 17th out of 34 teams on the women’s side.

Senior Matt Schiffbauer led the Herd by finishing second overall at last year’s meet, and he will be looking to build upon that performance with yet another solid placement this time around. Junior David Caldwell was also impressive, picking up a fifth place finish in the Herd’s winning effort last season.

For the women, junior Leslie Thomas has finished first amongst the Herd runners in both of their prior meets this season, and she will be looking to lead the pack once again as the team aims to improve upon last season’s middle-of-the-pack finish.

Saturday’s meet at the Greater Louisville Classic will be the Herd’s third of the season and will be the last race until October 15, when the team travels to Evansville, Indiana, for the Evansville Invitational.
