Marshall scored its second run in the ninth off back-to-back doubles from pinch hitter John Beary (Apopka, Fla.) and right fielder Eric Escobedo (Troup, Ga.).

UAB responded with two runs off a single, wild pitch, and balk to take the lead in the bottom of that inning.  The Blazers plated eight in the eighth to add insurance and secure the 10-2 victory.

The Herd nabbed five stolen bases on the night- Fajardo picked up his fourth of the season and Aaron Bossi (St. Louis, Mo.) swiped his seventh bag to accompany Leon’s and Bird’s.

Marshall will return to Regions Field Saturday for a 2:00 pm (CT) start for the second game of the series. Lefty Caleb Ross (Barboursville, W. Va.) could make the record books, as he needs just one more appearance to tie for fifth all time in Single Season Appearances with 28.
