Thundering Herd shortstop Adam Yeager has been named Marshall's Athlete of the Week for his fantastic performance at the Conference USA Baseball Championship in New Orleans, La. Yeager hit a team-best .455 in six games with a tournament-record nine stolen bases in leading the sixth-seeded Herd all the way to a berth in the championship game.
Five of the Huntington native's nine stolen bases came in Marshall's opening game of the tournament versus No. 3 seed and host Tulane, a tournament record, to spark the Herd to an upset victory over the Green Wave. Yeager's stolen base total propelled the Herd to a tournament-record 20 swipes for the week and his seven walks in the event is also a new record.
Yeager scored nine runs for the Herd with 10 hits and a .545 on-base percentage (all team-highs) and finished 2008 with the most steals (47) in Marshall single-season history.
