Herd Baseball Recruit Selected in MLB Draft|
June 12, 2014
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-- A member of Marshall baseball's 2014 recruiting class, Alejandro Juvier (Miami) was selected in the 2014 MLB Draft. The infielder was taken in the 15th round by the Baltimore Orioles.
Juvier played high school ball for the Doral Academy Firebirds, where he finished his senior year hitting .507 with six home runs and six doubles in 71 at-bats. In 2013, he was selected to play on the USA Baseball National Team Identification Series in Cary, N.C. with Team Florida.
A shortstop by trade, Juvier has also played third base and the outfield on occasion.
The Miami resident signed with Marshall in early November but has not announced a decision.
"It's great for the program," the Marshall coaching staff said, "but we are hopeful he chooses us over signing."
