Pastrana Named to ABCA Mideast All-Region Team
Reynaldo Pastrana is the first Herd player to be named to the first team since Aaron Bossi in 2016
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Marshall catcher Reynaldo Pastrana was featured on the All-Mideast Region Teams by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) first team, the league announced Wednesday.
Pastrana becomes the first Marshall player to land on the first team since second baseman Aaron Bossi in 2016.
Pastrana had an incredible year for Marshall both at the plate and behind it. The junior led the Herd in batting average (.355), runs (37), hits (71), home runs (13), RBI (50), and slugging percentage (.620). He also picked off 17 of 37 runners attempting to steal against him (46 percent), while carrying a .989 fielding percentage. Pastrana started in all 49 games this for Marshall, allowing just two passed balls and six errors all season. Thanks to those numbers, the junior was named to Conference USA’s first team and a Johnny Bench finalist, which will be awarded on June 28.
ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-Americans will be announced on Saturday, June 16.
