Baseball Adds Pitcher to 2010 Roster

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team signed right-handed pitcher, James White, from Clendenin, W.Va., head coach Jeff Waggoner announced on Thursday. White pitched for UNC Greensboro in 2008, sat out last season and is eligible for the upcoming 2010 campaign.

As a freshman at UNCG, White led the Southern Conference in appearances, 38, while posting a 5-1 record in 32.2 innings of work. His five victories, which ranked second for the Spartans, came against Kent State, Ohio University, Albany, Princeton and Furman. He finished the season with a 4.96 ERA and 23 strikeouts.

In the summer of 2008, White pitched in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) for the Holyoke Blue Sox. While in Massachusetts, White led the club with 18 appearances and registered a 2-2 record with a 3.16 ERA.

At his alma mater, Herbert Hoover high school, White let the team to its first ever baseball state title in 2007. He finished with a career record of 27-4 on the mound, along with earning all-state honors in his junior and senior seasons.
