HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall baseball program is set to host its 23rd annual Marshall Dugout Club Golf Tournament and sixth annual Johnny Piepenbrink Homecoming Tailgate in October.
The golf outing is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 13 at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Hurricane, W.Va. Registration for the tournament will begin at 10 a.m., while the start time is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. The entry-fee is set for $120 per person and foursomes will be offered a $500 rate.
Marshall will host its annual homecoming tailgate on Saturday, Oct. 14 from 11-2:30 p.m. at the Thunder Village RV lot behind Tic Toc Tire. This year’s proceeds will benefit Marshall baseball through the Big Green Club. The cost to attend the tailgate is a $10 donation.
“It’s always great to see former players come back,” head coach Jeff Waggoner said. “This is always a special weekend for the program. We hope for a great turnout and look forward to the tailgate on Saturday.”
The Thundering Herd finished with a 25-29 record this past season. The 25-win mark is the seventh-most in a single season in Herd history. Marshall had its fifth player in two years drafted by a MLB team when Tyler Ratliff was selected in the 17th round by the Texas Rangers.
