Herd Baseball to Hold Scout Day
Marshall to play Potomac State on Oct. 8

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall coach Jeff Waggoner has announced that the Thundering Herd baseball team will take on Potomac State (W.Va.) at 3:00 p.m. as part of Scout Day on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at Hurricane High School.
The matchup with Potomac State will mark the first time that Waggoner has scheduled to play another team during the fall baseball season.
“I think it is a win, win scenario for Marshall and Potomac State,” Waggoner said. “It helps us prepare for the spring season while also giving us some recruiting benefits as we can see what Potomac State has to offer us. Our guys will have a great chance to see another team in their preparations instead of inter-squad scrimmages.
Potomac State will take the field at 1:30 p.m. for 60-yard timed sprints, batting practice and infield & outfield warm-ups. At 2:30 p.m. Marshall will take the field for 60-yard timed sprints, batting practice and infield & outfield warm-ups. The two sides will then play two nine-inning contests with the first game set to get underway at 3:00 p.m.
The Oct. 8 event will give scouts a chance to see more teams and prospects in the state of West Virginia with West Virginia University hosting their scout day on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Waggoner has assisted a total of 27 players to being selected in the MLB Amateur Draft.
Marshall Baseball Scout Day Schedule (Oct. 8):
1:30 p.m. – Potomac State Warm-Up (60-yard timed sprints, batting practice and infield & outfield)
2:30 p.m. – Marshall Warm-Up (60-yard timed sprints, batting practice and infield & outfield)
3:00 p.m. – Game One with the second game to follow the conclusion of the first
Waggoner has also announced the dates for the Green and White World Series, which the first half to run from Thursday, Oct. 17 through Sunday, Oct. 20. The second half of the series will begin Thursday, Oct. 24 and end Sunday, Oct. 27. Parent’s Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26.
