@HerdBaseball Announces Two Fall Games in October
Marshall returns 14 letterwinners from last season’s record-breaking team
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall baseball released its upcoming 2016 home fall schedule, as announced Wednesday by head coach Jeff Waggoner.
The first game will be held on Saturday at the Kennedy Center Field on Route 2 at 2 p.m. against Potomac State. The Herd will host an intra-squad scrimmage at Appalachian Power Park on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m.
The Thundering Herd is coming off its best season in program history with 34 wins. The Herd was in the top 5 of 17 different offensive categories in Conference USA play this past season. Marshall was first in hits (315), RBI (189), home runs (36), doubles (69), total bases (504) and stolen bases (50).
Marshall returns 14 players from a year ago, including C-USA Newcomer of the Year Tommy Lane and all-freshman team selection Joshua Shapiro. The Herd also welcomes back Billy Sager, Leo Valenti, Brandon Romero, Reynaldo Pastrana, Nicholas Newton, Matt Reed, Tyler Ratliff, Sam Finfer, Cory Garrastazu, Patrick Murphy, Andrew Zban and Wade Martin.
Admission to each of Marshall’s fall ball games is free.
