HUNTINGTON, W. Va.- Due to inclement conditions, Marshall has added a second pitching and hitting clinic in January. The clinics are still open for registration and available to all entrants.
The hitting clinic will take place Saturday, Jan. 18th from 9:00 a.m. to noon while the pitching clinic will be held form 9:00 a.m. to noon Sunday, Jan. 19th. Both clinics are open to anyone ages 7-18.
The hitting clinic will focus on the art of hitting through drill work and evaluation of each participant. In addition to general mechanics, areas of focus will be situational offense, bunting, and the mental aspect of hitting.
Pitching and catching will be led by MU Pitching Coach, Josh Newman. Pitchers will be instructed on all aspects of pitching, including mechanics, bull pen and long toss routines, arm care, pickoff moves, PFP’s, grips and weight training. Catchers will be put through numerous drills working on blocking, receiving and throwing.
Herd baseball is still having its Youth Academy, a two day event scheduled for Friday, Dec. 27th and Saturday Dec. 28th. The camp will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon both days. This camp will be covering valuable life skills as well as providing professional baseball instruction. The academy will help campers learn about the Herd program and develop confidence in their baseball ability through improved athleticism and increased baseball skill.
The camp will be broken into sessions consisting of skill specific instruction, including hitting, base running, fielding, bunting, and strength training. Camp will end both days with different games.
All camps will be held in Gullickson Gym.
