Sean Flynn enters his second season with the Marshall men's basketball team. He will serve this season as a graduate assistant while also retaining responsibilities as the Herd's video coordinator. In 2011-12, Flynn was instrumental in helping the program make its first NIT appearance in 24 years.
Flynn comes to Marshall after working as an assistant coach at UMASS-Boston under New England Hall of Fame coach Charlie Titus. Flynn was responsible for offensive systems, advance scouting and film preparation as well as regional recruiting.
Flynn has been very active with Fidelity House basketball, having been head coach for the Fidelity House Kings AAU 15U and 14U teams. Flynn also assisted on a 17 U team that featured Notre Dame's Patrick Connaughton in regional tournaments with the FIHO Kings in 2010.
Flynn also worked for four years in the Boston Public Schools in various roles such as teacher, disciplinarian and coach. During this time, he coached girls' basketball at Jeremiah Burke High School in Dorchester, Mass. under the legendary John "Boo" Rice. The pair led the Bulldogs to the Boston City League Championship game and a 19-4 record on a team that featured Mississippi State signee Kadijah Ellison.
During summers in Boston, Flynn served as the South Boston site director for the Boston Neighborhood Basketball league, America's longest running free summer basketball league.
In addition to BNBL, Flynn is a tireless clinician at Hoop Mountain and Five-Star.
Flynn also worked in film and video at Hollywood's Walden Media in their Boston office while at Suffolk.
A native of Boston, Mass., Flynn graduated from Suffolk University in 2008 with a degree in film studies.
