Marshall 105, Tulsa 100 (3ot)

General Notes

*Marshall advances to face Southern Miss in Friday's first quarterfinal (3 p.m. CT on CBS Sports Network). The teams have never met in the C-USA Tournament. Marshall leads the all-time series, 7-6.

*This marked the first time in the 17-year history of the C-USA Tournament that a game went to triple overtime. It was also the first college basketball game played at FedExForum to ever go to three overtimes.

*First time in C-USA Tournament history that back-to-back games have gone to overtime. It is also the first tournament to have three overtime contests.

*This was the first time in C-USA Tournament history that both teams scored 100 points and the 205 combined points were the most ever in a C-USA Tournament game.

*The 40 points scored by Marshall's DeAndre Kane marked just the second time that a college basketball player has scored 40 points in the FedExForum. Alan Daniels of Lamar scored 41 points in a 108-83 loss to Memphis on Nov. 28,2005.

*Marshall's Shaquille Johnson and Tulsa's Steven Idlet each tied the C-USA Tournament record for most free throws made with 14.

*In the first two games today, covering 100 minutes of basketball, the biggest lead any team has had was eight points (twice in the Southern Miss-East Carolina game)

Marshall Notes

*Marshall has advanced to the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament for the first time. It is the first semifinals appearence in a conference tournament since 2000. (Mid-American)

* It was Marshall's first triple-overtime game since Feb. 27, 2010 when it defeated UCF 121-115. That was also the last time Marshall scored at least 100 points.

* Marshall has 20 wins for a third consecutive season for the first time in 27 years. The Herd went 20-8 in 1982-83, 25-6 in 1983-84 and 21-13 in 1984-85.

*DeAndre Kane's 40 points are a career-high and the most points ever scored by a player in the C-USA Tournament. The last time a Marshall player scored 40 points was when Ronald Blackshear had 40 vs Eastern Michigan on Feb. 3, 2003. Kane's 40 points is tied with five other players for 10th on the all-time list.

*Kane, who played 54 of the 55 minutes, set a new C-USA Tournament record for field goals made with 15.

*Kane also topped the 1,000-point mark for his career, joining teammates Damier Pitts and Shaquille Johnson as members of MU's 1,000-point club. Kane is the 49th player in school history to score 1,000 points. Marshall is now tied with UCLA for the eighth-most 1,000 point scorers among all Division I schools.

* Shaquille Johnson scored a career-high 25 points. He set new season highs for free throws attempted (14) andmade (18)

*Dennis Tinnon pulled down 12 rebounds after grabbing 15 in yesterday's game vs. SMU. He also scored 14 points to give him his 10th double-double of the season.

Tulsa Notes

*The 100 points scored by Tulsa were the most ever under seventh-year head coach Doug Wojcik. It was just the second time that TU has ever scored 100 points in a tournament game.

*Tulsa set new Conference USA Tournament records for free throws (40) and free throws attempted (58).

*Steven Idlet (14), Eric McClellan (10) and Kodi Maduka (8) all established new career-highs for free throws made.

*Eric McClellan's 25 points was a career-high (previous high was 15).

*Steven Idlet came off the bench and still played 49 minutes.
