Drops Tom Herrion to 48-30 at Marshall and 128-68 all-time.

Gives MU its first loss to a team, which at the time of the game, was a Big 12 Conference member.

Makes the Herd 7-22 in games played inside the Charleston Civic Center.

Team Notes

Marshall has won the tip in eight of its nine games.

WVU’s 11-1 run to end the first half helped them take their first lead of the game. The Mountaineers had their first lead of the game at the 2:42 mark of the first half.

The Mountaineers held the Thundering Herd to 59 points, its lowest total of the season.

The Herd’s 59 points is the lowest for it during a Capital Classic loss since falling 55-51 in 2004.

MU did not have a player with double-digit rebounds for the first time in seven games.

The Herd’s 13 assists gives it 10 or more assists in every game but one (UNCW).

Individual Notes

Elijah Pittman made a career-high four three pointers and extended his streak of a made three pointer in a game to nine (each game he has played).

Thirteen points by DeAndre Kane gave the junior his 65th career double-digit point game.

Kane’s team high seven assists give the junior seven or more assists in each but one this season (UNCW).

D.D. Scarver scored 17 points, his sixth straight game of double-digit points. He as well has made a three point basket in each game this season.

Dennis Tinnon went 0-for-4 from the field for the second time in his career. He went 0-for-4 against Akron last season (1/1/12)

Miscellaneous

At the 1:37 mark of the second half, a flagrant technical was issued on Robert Goff. He was ejected.

Four players for West Virginia were ejected at the same time for leaving the bench. Aaric Murray, Terry Henderson, Jabarie Hinds and Eron Harris were the ejected players.
