Marshall Comeback Falls Short at Old Dominion
A 50-point second half from the Marshall men’s basketball team was not enough to seal the Old Dominion Monarchs, as it fell, 82-76, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Saturday night.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Thursday evening’s matchup with Old Dominion at 7 p.m. will be broadcast on The Stadium Network and on select cable providers. The game will also be available online at watchstadium.com, while it will not be available on HerdVision/C-USA TV.

Burks scored a game-high 26 points, while 21 of his points came in the second half. Those 26 points came from an efficient 11-of-13 (84.6 percent) made field goals and 2-of-3 (66.7 percent) 3-pointers. The win helped Burks secure Conference USA’s Player of the Week award. Junior guard Jon Elmore added 16 points, a game-high eight rebounds and five assists.

SCOUTING THE MONARCHS

The Monarchs’ defense gives up 62.0 points per game (fourth in the nation), while it limits opponents to 40.5 percent from FGs (No. 20 in the nation). ODU limits opponents’ offense by forcing 15.08 turnovers a contest and controlling the boards with 39.08 rebounds a game.

WHO TO KNOW
The Monarchs’ are led by preseason All-Conference selection Ahmad Caver. Caver is second on the team in scoring, but leads the team in assists (6.4 per game) and steals (59). Over the past four games, Caver has collected 34 assists, while he has made one turnover.

Old Dominion’s leading scorer is B.J. Stith, who is averaging 15.0 points per game. Stith is shooting 45.5 percent from field goals and 41.6 percent from behind the arc. Brandan Stith and Trey Porter are a two-headed monster that have combined for 76 blocks this season. Randy Haynes is the Monarchs’ main three-point threat, as he has a team-high 55 made 3-pointers.

SERIES HISTORY
Marshall will meet Old Dominion for the 19th time in series history, which dates back to the 1966-67 season. The series has a special place in Herd history, as the 131 points it scored against the Monarchs on Feb. 27, 1968 mark the most points scored in a single game in program history.
