Irving, Texas - Marshall Unviersity point guard Damier Pitts has been named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team. The team is selected by a vote of head coaches and media members from across the league.

Pitts, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Charlotte, N.C., has started 29 games this season and averages 9.6 points and a team-high 3.3 assists per game.

This marks the second consecutive year that a Marshall player has been named to the C-USA All-Freshman team. Last year, Tirrell Baines was named to the squad.

Pitts is joined on the all-freshman team by Tyreke Evans of Memphis, Darrius Morrow of East Carolina, Paul McCoy of SMU, A.J. Rompza of UCF and Arnett Moultrie of UTEP. Evans was named to the all-conference first-team yesterday, as well as picking up his ninth C-USA Rookie of the Week honor of the season. Evans has established himself nationally as the only freshman finalist for the prestigious Oscar Robertson Trophy. He leads the No. 3 Tigers in scoring (16.9 ppg.) and steals (65).
