Jon Elmore Named to NABC All-District First Team
It is the first time Jon Elmore has been named to the NABC All-District team
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Marshall men’s basketball junior guard Jon Elmore (Charleston, W.Va.) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 11 first team, the organization announced on Wednesday.
This is Elmore’s first time to be recognized by the NABC, while he is pthe second player that the Herd has placed on the first team (James Kelly in 2016).
Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, the student-athletes named all-district represent the finest basketball players across America. The 250 student athletes, from 25 districts, are eligible for the NABC Coaches’ Division I All-America teams.
Elmore, who is an All-Conference USA First Team member, thanks to averaging 19.7 points per game and 5.9 assists per game, while leading the team in field goals (210), free throws (188) free throw attempts (233) and steals (40). The junior became the first C-USA player to lead the league in scoring and assists since Marquette’s Travis Diener in 2003-04. Elmore earned a spot on the C-USA All-Tournament Team and was named the league’s Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 12. He tallied a career and season-high 35 points vs. Toledo (Dec. 10) and a career-high 12 assists at Chattanooga (Dec. 6). The Charleston, W.Va., native led the team in scoring 15 times, while he led the team in assists 25 times.
Joining Elmore on the NABC All-District 11 first team were Middle Tennessee’s JaCorey Williams and Reggie Upshaw, Rice’s Marcus Evans and Louisiana Tech’s Erik McCree.
