Sustic Signs with Herd

May 15, 2018

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – JUCO transfer Ante Sustic (Split, Croatia) has officially joined the Thundering Herd for the 2018-19 season, head coach Dan D’Antoni announced.

“Ante is a modern day big,” D’Antoni said. “He can put it on the floor and shoot from distance. He provides rim protection, while his feet are quick enough to guard the outside as well. He’s helping us add size.”

Sustic, a transfer from Highland Community College in Freeport, Ill., will be immediately eligible, with two years remaining with the Herd.

A marksman, the Croatian shot 62.5 percent from the field (45-of-72), made 50 percent of his 3-pointers (7-of-14) and hit 68.2 percent (15-of-22) at the charity stripe on a 26-8 team that won the JUCO Region IV championship and advanced to the national tournament. Sustic averaged 3.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game during the 2017-18 season.

Before going to junior college, the junior attended and played for St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy, a prep school in Delafield, Wisconsin.

Sustic joins the 2018-19 recruiting class along with guards Taevion Kinsey, Jeremy Dillon and Cameron Brooks-Harris.
