Men's Basketball to Participate in #Chillin4Charity
Marshall looks to carry trend into NCAA men's hoops, too
June 25, 2014
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's basketball coaching staff has decided to participate in the Chillin4Charity cold water challenge in hopes of helping the effort jump from women's college basketball into the men's game.
The trend has spread with members of various coaching staffs challenging fellow coaches and staffs to participate the challenge which consists of participants being doused with a cooler of ice-cold water.
With the coaches not having been challenged by fellow coaches in particular, they have taken it upon themselves to kick-start the trend in an effort to bring the cause into the men's game.
If the coaches accept the challenge, the challenger must donate $25 towards charity. If a coach does not accept the challenge, they must donate $250 to the foundation.
The charity of choice will be the V Foundation for Cancer Research, which was formed by ESPN and the late Jim Valvano in 1993.
On June 20, coach Matt Daniel and the rest of the Marshall women's basketball coaching staff participated in the challenge with their efforts having benefitted the Kay Yow Foundation.
