HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -
John Janovsky returns to Marshall, serving as its director of basketball operations for head coach Tom Herrion's staff this season.
Janovsky spent the 2010-11 season as a graduate assistant for the Thundering Herd before working as Virginia Tech's video coordinator this past season under head coach Seth Greenburg.
"We are really excited to have John join our staff as the director of operations," Herrion said. "He has excellent knowledge of our program and how we do things having been a part of it previously. John has a great deal of experience and will be a great asset to us. He is very talented, bright, organized and works extremely hard, qualities I feel will only help better our basketball program."
Before Marshall, Janovsky was the coordinator of basketball operations at Duquesne University under former Virginia Tech player Ron Everhart during the 2009-10 season. Prior to that, he was an assistant coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for three seasons.
"It's great to be back working with Coach Herrion and a part of the Marshall community," Janovsky said. "I'm very excited for the opportunity and look forward with anticipation for the upcoming season."
Janovsky is a 2004 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in business administration. While at Pitt, he worked all four years as a manager, three for coach Ben Howland and one for Jamie Dixon. He is on track to earn a master's degree in adult and technical education from Marshall in December 2012.
