Ohio Transfer Goard Joins Men's Basketball Team
Goard played high school at nearby George Washington
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Charleston native TyQuane Goard has joined the Marshall men's basketball team after playing last season with Ohio.
The 6-7 forward averaged 1.7 points and 1.5 rebounds while playing 7.2 minutes per game for the Bobcats who made it to the Sweet 16 before falling to North Carolina. Goard will not be able to play during the 2012-13 season according to NCAA transfer rules, but can practice with the team during that time. He will be a sophomore for the Herd in the 2013-14 season.
"It is great to have TyQuane join our basketball program," said head coach Tom Herrion. "He is a young man we are familiar with from his high school and AAU days. He will benefit greatly during his sit out year and we are excited for his future with the Herd."
Goard was an All-Mountain State Athletic Conference First Team selection as a senior at George Washington High School. He led his team to a state championship with a game-high 19 points in the 55-54 finals win over No. 1 seed Wheeling Park.
