HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -
Marshall and Belmont meet for the first time ever in men's basketball at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Cam Henderson Center.
The Thundering Herd (7-2) is coming off a 79-59 win over High Point on Saturday. Marshall was led by Justin Coleman's personal-best 16 points and Robert Goff's first-ever double-double. As a team, the Herd had just six turnovers, the fewest since committing six against UAB on Jan. 23, 2010.
Sophomore guard continues to lead the team in scoring with an average of 15.2 points per game. Junior forward Dennis Tinnon leads the Herd with 10.1 rebounds per game.
Also in the win, senior guard Shaquille Johnson inched closer to the 1,000-point plateau as his 10 points against the Panthers gave him 975 for his career.
A member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Belmont (7-4) is coming off a 66-61 loss at Miami (Ohio). The Bruins return 10 letterwinners and four starters off of last season's 30-5 team which won the A-Sun Championships and lost to Wisconsin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Junior guard Kerron Johnson leads four Bruins who average double-figures with 14.6 points per game. The Bruins are averaging 79.4 points per game thanks in large part to their 9.2 three-pointers per game, a mark that is tied for 12th in the nation. All of Belmont's losses this season have come on the road with defeats at Duke, Memphis and Middle Tennessee before falling to the Redhawks.
Monday's game will be the first of two meetings between the Herd and the Bruins this season as Marshall will play in Nashville, Tenn. on Dec. 29.
The game will be broadcast on the radio throughout the Thundering Herd Network. Gametracker and live video can be accessed through HerdZone.com.
