A two-time All-Conference USA tackle, he returns to Herd after being granted a sixth season of eligibility after Marshall filed for an Extension of Eligibility Waiver from the NCAA following an injury-plagued 2015, when he played only 10 quarters over three games for the season ... Did not play after Week 5 ... Has 25 career starts and is one of Marshall's team leaders ... Prior to injury, in Herd's 2015 conditioning testing, did 30 pro bench reps (225 pounds), just one shy of team-leading Nate Devers and Sebastian Johansson ... One of seven 2016 Herd offensive lineman with at least one career start ... Regarded as one of top pro prospects in Conference USA ... Former walk-on and grayshirt playing as graduate student after earning MU degree in May 2015.

R-SENIOR SEASON (2015): Named to preseason 2015 watch lists for the Outland Trophy and Rotary Lombardi Award, and also was selected Preseason All-Conference USA at OL ... Started first two games (Purdue, Ohio) at right tackle, but suffered injury at Ohio; finished game, but missed following two weeks ... R-JUNIOR SEASON (2014): Started all 14 games at right tackle, and was All-Conference USA first team selection by league coaches ... Played 1,035 snaps, second on team to graduated center Chris Jasperse (1,042) ... Finished with team-best 92 knockdowns in 14 games ... Played every offensive snap in last four games of season ... Selected by Herd coaches for team's 2014 Offensive Gridiron Gladiator award, which goes to a relentless, 100-percent player ... Picked by coaches as two-time game captain (Ohio, FAU) ... In preseason, named Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List and chosen by C-USA coaches as a preseason All-C-USA first team lineman ... R-SOPHOMORE SEASON (2013): Voted All-Conference USA second team by league coaches after spending first half of season as a Herd backup ... Played 726 snaps, with 97 percent assignment rate and 84 percent success, with no penalties ... Won the annual Chad Pennington Award, which goes to an offensive player for his commitment to on- and off-the-field success ... After 2013 spring practice went on strict diet provided by strength and conditioning coach Scott Sinclair, and dropped from 323 to 284 pounds, eventually gaining back 10 pounds to play at 294 ... Offensive line coach Alex Mirabal said Van Horn "had the best August camp" among 20 Herd linemen ... Began season as No. 2 right tackle, and moved into starting lineup in Week 7 (at Middle Tennessee) when three-year starter Garrett Scott moved to left tackle ... Finished season with eight starts, and played 726 snaps, grading out at 97 percent (assignment) and 83 percent (success), with 35 knockdowns and 2.5 sacks ... Chosen by Herd coaches as a game captain for UAB game.

R-FRESHMAN SEASON (2012): Appeared in 11 games for the Herd (missed opener vs. West Virginia), mostly on the field goal and extra point units.

FRESHMAN SEASON (2011): Redshirted ... Came to Marshall as "grayshirt" walk-on in fall of 2010, then went on scholarship in January 2011.

PRIOR TO MARSHALL: Born Feb. 6, 1993 at Fort Benning, Ga., when his mother was stationed there ... Full name is Clinton Chris Van Horn III ... His father, Clinton Van Horn Jr., is pastor of Living Water Church International in Beckley ... Earned MU undergraduate degree in Political Science in May 2015, working toward second degree in Adult and Technical Education ... Family moved to Beckley when he was 9 ... Class AAA All-State first team selection at Woodrow Wilson High in Beckley, the same school that produced former Herd players Matt Morris (2003-06), Shavar Greer (2002-06) and Doug Legursky (2004-07) ... 87 percent blocking efficiency and 32 pancakes in senior season (2010); had 76 tackles on defensive line ... As 2010-11 senior, was Class AAA wrestling State Tournament 285-pound runner-up to Garrett Stanley of Bridgeport on 3-2 decision; finished season with 33-5 record ...
