Marshall's second two-a-day practice focused on offensive and defensive schemes during the morning session, while the afternoon session consisted of a lighter practice and walk-through drills on Friday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
Friday was used primarily as a day of preparation for Saturday's scrimmage, which first-year head Mark Snyder is looking forward to seeing the progress of his team.
"We will be handcuffed on offense and defense in certain situations," Snyder said, "but we want to see the guys perform without having to rely on the coaching staff.
"We are looking for a clean, crisp, sharp and well executed scrimmage Saturday."
During the morning session, junior quarterback Jimmy Skinner connected with sophomore wide receiver Marcus Fitzgerald on a 30-yard out route along the sideline during green-on-white drills. Skinner later had another strong pass to wide receiver Shawn Lauzon.
Sophomore quarterback Bernie Morris and running back Will Albin both had a pair of impressive runs, while freshman quarterback Wesley Beardain connected with Jermaine Filer on a nice pass during seven-on-seven drills.
The afternoon session was much lighter as the Herd concentrated mainly on special units and participated in seven-on-seven drills.
Fans are invited to attend the Thundering Herd's scrimmage, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. Admission is free.
