Marshall Football Postgame Notes

The game captains, as selected by Marshall head coach Doc Holliday and his staff, were junior quarterback Chase Litton (offense), junior defensive lineman Ryan Bee (defense) and senior Tony Pittman (special teams.

Junior linebacker Juwon Young saw his first action of the season for Marshall. He lasted played a collegiate game on Dec. 26, 2015 for the University of Miami in the Sun Bowl against Washington State.

There were three first-time starters for the Herd – two on offense and one on defense. Redshirt freshmen Will Ulmer (left tackle) and Cody Mitchell (tight end) made their first collegiate starts. Young was the other, although he made five starts at Miami.

Junior running back Keion Davis surpassed 1,000 career rushing yards on a 9-yard carry in the first quarter.

Senior tight end Ryan Yurachek extended his streak of consecutive games with a reception to 34 games, one of the five longest active streaks in the FBS.



Yurachek also cleared a personal milestone by eclipsing 1,000 career receiving yards on a 4-yard reception in the first quarter. Yurachek reached 100 career receptions last week.

Junior quarterback Chase Litton connected on a touchdown pass in the first quarter to extend his streak of consecutive games with a TD pass to 25 games, the second-longest streak among FBS QBs.

Litton moved past Todd Donnan for No. 6 in MU history in career attempts. Donnan had 912. Litton had 922 by halftime.

The MU defense shut out its third consecutive opponent in the first half: Kent State, Cincinnati and Charlotte. The Herd has outscored its opponents 31-0 in the first half during the last three games. The last time Marshall allowed a first half point was with 16 seconds left in the second quarter at North Carolina State.

The Thundering Herd defense has not allowed a touchdown in the first quarter this season (five games). The Herd has outscored its opponents 31-6 in the first quarter through five games (two field goals).

Junior wide receiver Tyre Brady collected two touchdown receptions for the first time in his collegiate career.

Litton had his 17th-career multi-touchdown game. He has three in five games this season.

The Marshall offensive line did not allow a sack for the third consecutive game.

Chase Litton has thrown a TD pass in 26 consecutive games.
