Marshall game captains for FIU, as selected by Doc Holliday and staff, are running back Tony Pittman and tight end Ryan Yurachek on offense; defensive lineman Ryan Bee and safety Corey Neely on defense.

Chase Litton connected with tight end Emanuel Byrd in the first quarter for a touchdown, which extended Litton’s streak to 21 consecutive games with a scoring pass.

Rodney Allen intercepted two passes in the first quarter, becoming the first Herd player with multiple interceptions in one game since Tiquan Lang against Purdue on Sept. 6, 2015. The interceptions were the first two for Allen this season, and he now has five for his career.

The first quarter sack by MU linebacker Frankie Hernandez gives him four consecutive games with at least a share of a sack.

Marshall’s second drive of the game ended in an interception thrown by Litton, which ended multiple streaks. It was Marshall’s first turnover since the third quarter versus Charlotte, a span of 214 minutes and 8 seconds of game time. The Herd offense went 43 drives and 211 plays between turnovers. The interception was Litton’s first in the opening quarter this season, and his first in the first quarter since Litton’s first pass against Kent State on Sept. 26, 2015. Litton hadn’t thrown an interception in the first quarter in 169 passing attempts, and hadn’t thrown an interception this season in 123 throws.
