Marshall University wide receiver Darius Passmore has accepted an invitation to play in the 84th Annual East-West Shrine Game, scheduled for Jan. 17, at the University of Houston's Robertson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. (ET) and the game will be televised by ESPN2.
Passmore will represent Marshall along with safety C.J. Spillman who accepted an invitation last month to play in the post-season contest.The Marshall duo will play for the East team that is being coached by former NFL head coach Bobby Ross.
Passmore, a Florida City, Fla. native, was a second-team All-Conference USA selection this season after leading the Thundering Herd with 56 catches for 945 yards and seven touchdowns. He added 21 carries for 195 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Spillman, a standout free safety, was a 2008 and 2007 second-team All-Conference USA selection for the Thundering Herd. The Louisville (Ky.) native finished his collegiate career with 319 career tackles and three interceptions in 46 games. Last season he was credited with 71 total tackles and four pass breakups in 11 contests.
