Thirteen former Marshall football players – 11 of whom departed from the program after the 2016 season – performed for 14 professional assistant coaches and scouts as the school’s annual “Pro Day” on Wednesday.

The Arizona Cardinals, Cincinnati Bengals, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers were represented inside the Chris Cline Athletic Complex. The B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League were also there to put former Thundering Herd football players under a microscope.

Among the measurements recorded: height, weight, hands, arm and wingspan; times were recorded in the 10, 20 and 40-yard dash; additionally, numbers were logged for the vertical jump, broad jump, 20-yard shuttle, 60-yard shuttle, 3-cone drill and bench press.

Marshall had nine players who exhausted eligibility this season perform: tight end Emanuel Byrd, receiver Justin Hunt, receiver Josh Knight, defensive lineman Joe Massaquoi, defensive back Corey Neely, defensive back Terry Richardson, offensive lineman Michael Selby, defensive lineman Gary Thompson and offensive lineman Clint Van Horn.

Receivers Michael Clark and Deon-Tay McManus were also among the Pro Day attendees. Both players opted to forgo eligibility to pursue professional football. Clark, McManus and Knight ranked in the top three on the team in catches and yardage. Clark, who measured at 6 feet and 5.5 inches on Wednesday, caught 37 passes for a team-high 632 yards and five touchdowns in his only season at Marshall.

Also, Herd greats Evan McKelvey and Deandre Reaves – 2015 seniors who participated in Pro Day a year ago – returned to showcase their skills before the scouts.

Seventeen Marshall players have been drafted since 2000, including second round picks Vinny Curry (No. 59 overall in 2012) and Aaron Dobson (No. 59 overall in 2013).

The three-day, seven-round NFL Draft is April 27-29 at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. It is the 82nd annual draft.
