Green-White Game Set For Saturday
The Marshall Thundering Herd Football squad will close out spring practice this Saturday, April 12, with the annual Green-White Game at Marshall Stadium.
The scrimmage is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. Admission to the game is $5 with all proceeds going to the Marshall Quarterback Club, which uses the funds to assist the Thundering Herd program throughout the year. Parking will also be available on the West Lot at the stadium for $5.
Marshall returns six starters on both sides of the ball from the 2002 Mid-American Conference and GMAC Bowl Champions. Senior receiver Darius Watts returns as the nation?s leading receiver. His 3,063 career receiving yards and 36 career TD receptions are both tops in the nation entering 2003.
The Green-White game will be available on the radio on WRVC-AM 930 in Huntington with Robert Harper and Woody Woodrum providing the call for the game.
Before the spring game, the Herd has two remaining practice sessions, which will be held on Thursday and Friday morning.
In addition to the festivities around the spring game, the Marshall athletic department will also hold an auction of athletic apparel. Minimum bids for game-worn apparel will start at $10 through $25 per item.
The sale will be held at Noon in the west parking lot of Marshall Stadium (20th Street side). Successful bidders will be required to pay for items by cash or check at the time of the sale.
HERD DRAFT DAY PARTY
Herd fans wanting to celebrate NFL Draft Day with members of the Marshall coaching staff will have an opportunity to do so.
The Quarterback Club will have a Draft Day Party on Saturday, April 26, beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the Big Green Room at Marshall Stadium.
Food and beverages will be provided throughout the afternoon and drawings for a variety of door prizes will be held. Highlight videos from the 2002 season, focusing on the draft eligible seniors, will be shown throughout the day, along with live coverage of the NFL Draft from New York City.
Tickets for the party are available through Edna Justice in the football office. All proceeds will go to benefit the Thundering Herd Football program.
