Marshall University's annual Green & White Spring Football Game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday (April 21) at Joan C. Edwards Stadium and members of the general public interested in purchasing season tickets for the 2007 football season will get their first chance prior to kickoff.
The Marshall University athletic ticket office will conduct its first Choose-A-Seat event of the year from Noon to 3 p.m. at the stadium. This will be the first opportunity for the general public to purchase season tickets for the 2007 season. To this point only Big Green Members and 2006 season ticket holders have been able to renew and purchase additional seats.
With less than a week remaining until Friday's renewal deadline, Marshall is on a record-setting pace for season tickets and the school-record of 14,027 season tickets sold from last year is expected to be eclipsed by Friday.
Saturday's Choose-A-Seat will provide the general public with one early bird opportunity to purchase season tickets in person before they are made available online and over the phone. The Marshall University ticket office will begin selling season tickets through www.HerdZone.com, over the phone at 1-800-THE-HERD and at the ticket office in the Cam Henderson Center at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 23.
Fans interested in attending the choose-a-seat must purchase a Green & White game ticket in order to enter the stadium. Game tickets are $5 and all proceeds go to benefit the Marshall University Quarterback Club, which supports the Marshall University Football Program.
The Stadium West Parking Lot will open at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Parking is available at the West Lot, The Annex Parking Lot, and the A Lot for $10. The 3rd Ave. Parking Garage will be open and parking is available for $5. West Lot parking spaces are being sold in advance of game day for $25. Fans can purchase parking in advance by calling the MU football office at 304-696-6464 before 4 p.m. Friday.
The Thundering Herd football team will participate in its traditional "Thunder Walk" at 1 p.m. and make its way through the West Lot to the Shewey Athletic Center and fans are encouraged to take part in this game day tradition.
Several special guests are expected to be in attendance at the spring game. Members of the 1971 Young Thundering Herd football team will serve as honorary captains and several former Marshall NFL Alums will be at the game.
